Can I also have treatment with clear braces if I have crowns, bridges or implants?
If the crowns, bridges or implants are located in the posterior area, i.e., behind the canines, they do not affect the treatment with clear braces, as the treatment is focused on the adjustment of the aesthetic zone of the anterior teeth.
However, if they are located in the anterior region, that is, in front of the canines, there are important differences. Crowns do not affect treatment and can be moved just like a normal tooth. Bridges in the anterior region cannot be moved and are therefore unsuitable for treatment. An implant can be optimally used for anchorage during treatment with transparent dental splints, but its position cannot be changed. It is firmly anchored in the bone. In special cases, therefore, treatment with transparent dental splints may be limited, and individual consultation with the dentist should always take place.
